In today’s tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a glitter tumbler with the character Chilli (Mum) from the TV series ‘Bluey’. Creating characters out of vinyl is tedious, but the payoff is worth it! Watch the complete tutorial in the video below, or keep scrolling for written instructions.
Please be advised that any time you are using a licensed image of logos or characters like Chilli, you must have the rights to the images used in order to sell the item. The travel mug in this video is a gift for a friend and is not for sale.

Step 1
Start by painting your stainless steel tumbler with a coat of acrylic paint that matches the glitter you will be using. This will keep the glitter from looking uneven or patchy.
Step 2
Apply a generous coat of mod podge and sprinkle your loose glitter all over the tumbler. It is helpful to do this over a piece of parchment paper so you can easily collect and dump the excess glitter back into the package.
Step 3
After the mod podge has fully dried, apply a layer of UV resin to seal in the glitter. Cure it under a UV lamp or outside in the sun. You can also use 2-part resin for this step.
Step 4
Prepare your cut files in Cricut Design Space. I created the Bluey SVG from a Pinterest image using the website pngtosvg.com, there is a full tutorial explaining how to do this on my YouTube channel. I used a font called Hello Headline for the ‘MUM!’ image.
Step 5
Cut your vinyl and layer your Chilli decal using the parchment paper method as demonstrated in the video tutorial at the top of this post.
Step 6
Apply your decals to the tumbler. I used the hinge method as demonstrated in the video tutorial at the top of this post. If you have any bubbles in your vinyl, you may find it helpful to use a heat gun on those areas and then press out the bubbles.
Step 7
Apply another layer of UV resin to seal in the vinyl decals.
You’re done!
And here is the final result. Always hand-wash your tumblers made with resin and treat them with care!
